One teacher. Four offerings. All virtual.
Scholar Vanguard is built around one on one instruction with Ms. Amber Merriweather. Every service is virtual, every session is private, and every scholar is treated as an individual. Cohorts and group classes are no longer offered. This is personalized, rigorous academic support for scholars who are ready to grow.
Monthly enrollment is $500 per month (4 sessions). Week-to-week enrollment is available at $150 per week. High School Planning and College Prep are $700 per month or $200 per week. All sessions are 60 minutes, scheduled in advance. Every new family begins with the First Session ($125) before monthly enrollment begins.
Four sessions per month, one on one, via Google Meet. Ms. Merriweather works directly with your elementary scholar to build number sense, place value, and math fluency using the same vocabulary and methods their classroom teacher uses. No confusion about why they changed how math works. Just clarity, confidence, and results your scholar can feel.
Whether your scholar is struggling to keep up or ready to go deeper, sessions are structured around where your scholar actually is and where they need to go. Session notes and a brief progress summary are provided each month.
What is included
Four sessions per month, one on one, via Google Meet. Reading comprehension, writing craft, grammar, and literary analysis taught through the Vanguard Method. From paragraph writing to literary analysis to college essays, this is rigorous ELA instruction for scholars who want to be excellent readers and writers, not just scholars who want to pass.
Sessions are tailored to grade level and current academic demands. A third grader building reading fluency looks nothing like an 11th grader writing AP essays, and the instruction reflects that. Ms. Merriweather meets your scholar where they are and moves them forward with intention.
What is included
Four sessions per month, one on one, via Google Meet. Strategy and support for navigating the transition from middle school to high school and landing strong. Course selection, academic identity, goal setting, and high school readiness are the foundation. This is not tutoring for a specific subject. This is positioning your scholar to make smart decisions before and during high school.
10th graders are welcome in this service when the focus is resetting the high school plan rather than college applications. Some scholars in 10th grade are still building the foundation they need. If your 10th grader is focused on college positioning, see College Prep below.
Every scholar enrolled in High School Planning receives access to Scholapass at hub.scholarsvanguard.com. Built by Ms. Merriweather, Scholapass is a digital resource center with tools, guides, and planning frameworks for scholars entering and navigating 9th grade.
What is included
Four sessions per month, one on one, via Google Meet. This is the full package for college-bound scholars. ELA tutoring is built in: reading, writing, and essay craft are woven into every session. Khan Academy monitoring is included so Ms. Merriweather can see where your scholar is performing across academic subjects beyond ELA and adjust the plan accordingly.
This is not just essay help. This is strategic academic positioning from 10th grade through the application. Scholars who begin early have more time to build the record, the skills, and the narrative that colleges are actually reading for. The earlier you start, the more options your scholar has.
What is included
Short, focused workshops designed for parents and caregivers, not students. These sessions are built around the questions families ask most often and the knowledge that makes a real difference at home. No educational background required. No jargon. Just practical knowledge you can use the same week.
Each Saturday Parent Session is 90 minutes, led by Ms. Merriweather, and open to any parent or caregiver regardless of whether your scholar is enrolled in Scholar Vanguard.
Why homework becomes a battle, how people with ADHD actually process requests, and the one strategy that works better than every threat you have tried. The positive opposite in practice.
Why your child is doing math "the weird way" and what place value, arrays, and vertical addition actually mean. A translation from 1990s and 2000s methods to what classrooms use today, so you can help at home without confusing your scholar.
The difference between writer's workshop and five paragraph essay, how to read your child's writing without rewriting it, and how to give feedback that builds confidence instead of shutting it down.
“I live with a chronic illness. What that means for your family is this: I will never cancel because I could not find parking. I will never be late because of traffic. Unless I am in the hospital, I will be in my seat and ready when your student sits down. That is a reliability guarantee I can make virtually that I cannot make in person.”
Ms. Amber Trishawna Merriweather, Founder, Scholar Vanguard
Every Scholar Vanguard family begins with a paid intake consultation. This is where we decide together what your scholar needs and which service is the right fit.
Schedule a paid consultation with Ms. Merriweather. This is not a sales call. This is a working session where we assess your scholar's needs, goals, and current standing. Paid because your family's time matters and mine does too.
Based on the intake, Ms. Merriweather recommends the service that fits your scholar's grade level, goals, and current needs. You choose and we confirm your start date.
Your four sessions are scheduled at the top of each month. Sessions run via Google Meet. You receive session notes after each one so you always know what was covered and what is next.
