The First Session is not a screening call. It is the beginning of the work. You meet with Ms. Merriweather first. Then your scholar comes in and the assessment begins. By the time you leave, we know where your scholar is, what they need, and what happens next.

A free consultation is scheduled loosely, attended casually, and ended without commitment. The First Session is not that. You pay because real work is happening. Ms. Merriweather is talking with you, assessing your scholar, and building the plan that shapes every session that follows.

Include your scholar's grade level, the subject or area of concern, and two or three available times that work for approximately a 2-hour virtual block via Google Meet. Reach out Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Eastern. No calls are taken after 11:00 AM Eastern.
Once a time is confirmed, you will receive a calendar invite and a payment link for $125. The First Session is confirmed when payment is received. No payment, no hold on the time slot.
Before the First Session, you will receive a brief intake form asking about your scholar's academic history, current challenges, and goals. Complete it before the meeting so we can spend the consultation time working, not gathering basic information.
The First Session runs in three parts: a 30-minute parent consultation, a brief transition while Ms. Merriweather prepares, and then your scholar's first assessment session. All three happen in the same block. You do not leave with a recommendation. You leave having already started.

Your scholar is not in this portion yet. Ms. Merriweather speaks with you directly about your scholar's academic history, current challenges, the grade level and subject of concern, and what success looks like for your family. This is where she listens and asks questions. You are not being sold. You are being heard.
Your scholar joins the call briefly to meet Ms. Merriweather and hear what the session will involve. Then you and your scholar step away while Ms. Merriweather uses the time to review your intake form, pull the appropriate assessments, and prepare. This is intentional. The session that follows is not improvised.
Your scholar comes back and tutoring begins. For math scholars, this means working through grade-appropriate problems to find exactly where the gaps are. For ELA scholars, this means reading and writing tasks that reveal how your scholar processes language. This is not a soft introduction. This is real instruction from the first session.
Scholar Vanguard is a small, appointment-based practice. Every session is reserved exclusively for your family. This policy protects your time and mine.
